Councillor Rodney Berman, Liberal Democrat leader of Cardiff County Council

In 2004, after years of high council taxes and a controversial council leader, the people of Cardiff threw out the Labour administration and the Liberal Democrats became the largest party on Cardiff County Council with 33 seats.

With only 35 seats on Cardiff Council the Liberal Democrats have entered a partnership with Plaid Cymru to run the council. They have 7 out of the 9 Executive Member positions. The council's Executive is made up of the following Liberal Democrat councillors: - Cllr. Rodney Berman (Leader) - Corporate - Cllr. Judith Woodman (Deputy Leader) - Communities, Housing and Social Justice - Cllr. Nigel Howells (Chief Whip) - Sport, Leisure and Culture - Cllr. Margaret Jones - Environment - Cllr. Freda Salway - Education and Lifelong Learning - Cllr. Mark Stephens - Finance and Service Delivery - Cllr. John Dixon - Health, Social Care and Wellbeing
